My parents, bless them, would much rather have me cooped up at home, wrapped in cotton wool with a bubble-wrap insulation to boot. Talk about being overprotective! It's my version of breaking free and spreading my wings. I love the freedom being traveling alone gives me. My six-month journey to Israel and Europe ended up becoming an 18-year sojourn in Israel. Definitely a worthwhile excursion.

I hear women speak of never having gone to a movie alone. It's so upsetting; what are the afraid of? It's not just the stories of lecherous men that makes women anxious, but the fear that they will be perceived as lonely and alone. And even if they are, isn't it better to get out than to stay in wishing you could go out?
